Why Ramadan Is the Perfect Time To Start Your Weight Loss Journey

In today’s society, we are often over-fed. We have lost touch with what it means to truly feel hungry. However, during the 30 days of Ramadan, we have a unique opportunity to break free from unhealthy eating habits and retrain our bodies to eat what we need, not what we want. So, healthy eating habits start during Ramadan!

When we’re fasting, our bodies produce less Ghrelin, the hormone that regulates our appetite. This means we can more easily control our cravings and hunger pangs. Therefore, Ramadan is the perfect time to discipline ourselves and make healthier food choices.

There’s also a Sahih Hadith of the Prophet (PBUH):

Reported by Miqdam bin Madikarib:

“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a human being to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then [fill it with] one-third of food, one-third for a drink, and one-third for air.'”

Sunan Ibn Majah,

Vol. 4, Book 29, Hadith 3349

This Sahih Hadith highlights the importance of being mindful of what and how much we eat, especially during Ramadan. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) teaches us that overeating can have negative consequences on our physical and spiritual well-being. He advises us to fill our stomachs in moderation and not stuff ourselves with excessive food.

According to the Hadith, filling our stomachs with too much food can weigh us down, leaving us sluggish and lethargic. It can also lead to various health problems like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Instead, we should aim to eat in moderation and choose nutritious and healthy foods.

The Hadith also provides a simple formula for portion control, suggesting that we divide our meals into three parts: one-third for food, one-third for a drink, and one-third for air. This helps us to strike a balance between nourishing our bodies and leaving space for digestion and circulation.

What's In The Men's Diet Plan For Weight Loss In Ramadan?

GSFR diet plan for weight loss for male in Ramadan includes:

  1. Balanced meals: Our plan focuses on balanced meals that include the right amount of carbs, proteins, and healthy fats to keep your stomach full and energized throughout the day.
  2. Hydration: Our plan emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated during Ramadan, especially after the iftaar. We recommend drinking plenty of water and other fluids during non-fasting hours to help keep your body hydrated and healthy.
  3. Nutrient-dense foods: Our plan encourages the consumption of nutrient-dense foods, such as fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, to ensure you get the necessary nutrients your body needs to function properly.
  4. Foods to Avoid: Foods like Pakoray, Samosay, Qeema Rolls, and similar food can be pretty tempting. But they are the unhealthiest foods for Ramzan. So, we suggest suitable alternatives to keep your fill.
  5. Exercise: Along with the diet plan, we recommend incorporating regular exercise into your routine to help boost weight loss and improve overall health. This can include activities such as weight lifting, cardio, or bodyweight exercises.
